Bio: I grew up in a small town a few steps away from the ocean on the west coast of Florida. I still call it home even though I currently live in metro Atlanta and reside there with my husband .
Other names (besides artist) I may answer to: Mom, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Friend, Motorcycle Girl, Fan of Atlanta Braves, Blue Ridge Mountain Junkie. Twisty road seeker and Hidden roadside wonder lover.
Artist Statement: I am a mixed media artist with a experimental approach. Being self taught with little awareness or concern for the "rules", I find myself with a natural tendency to break them. I don't start with a sketch and often have no clear vision of how the finished piece will present itself. Working without a schedule allows some of my pieces to rest for weeks until the right process to finish the piece becomes clear.
I feel the freedom of being an artist without fear or urgency of creating under conventional standards. Experimenting with acrylic paints, inks, and various mediums and tools, I sometimes find myself with a finished painting and no clear memory of the individual steps taken on the way.
Finding beauty in textures created by nature, and time, I find an escape from the day to day grind of business: taking inspiration not only from other artists, but also from details others may rarely notice. I find myself drawn to vivid colors patterns of nature or the eyes of a stranger or, cracked sidewalks. Found or discarded items are often my inspiration for the day. My hope is to share with the audience the beauty I see in these easily unnoticed things.
